Abstract
Galatea was one of the Nereids, nymphs of the sea, thus called because they were daughters of Nereus and Doris. Exceedingly beautiful, she ignited the love of the Cyclops. However, Galatea loved Attis. One day, the deformed giant caught them in a love scene. Full of wrath and jealousy, he crushed his rival with a boulder. Galatea took refuge in the sea and turns Attis’ blood into crystal water, creating a river or a fountain of the same name.
