Abstract
The Jesuitical priest Pedro João Perpinhão, who developed an intense activity as an orator, professor and researcher in Portugal, from 1551 to 1561, at the service of the Society of Jesus, wrote a biography of Queen Saint Elizabeth of Portugal, De Vita et Moribus Beatae Elisabethae Lusitaniae Reginae, to contribute to the ongoing process of canonization. To accomplish it, he used several contemporary documents, namely the Chronicles of Rui de Pina, and the Queen’s first biographical and hagiographic document, written immediately after her death. The information selected from these
documents is visible in the narrative of the conflict between D. Dinis and his brother, D. Afonso.
