This paper compares the writings of Walter Benjamin about the violence with the modern representation of the idea expressed by the graves contained in the cemeteries. Walter Benjamin in his book Critique of Violence argues that it exists only through the moral relations, generating the intentionality of the act. Once we find sumptuous tombs in the cemetery belonging to an elite, which are sponsored by government or by the individual himself, in a privileged spot of holy ground, we see that(s) individual(s) less favored, poor and indigent, are “deposited” in modest graves, unmarked and even in mass graves, thus perpetuating the sense of violence, this is no longer physical, but moral.
